If you set your goals too big - especially your financial goals - you run the risk of fear paralysis and never getting anywhere. If they’re too small, you run the risk of boredom or of never getting anywhere. If you want to set financial goals - SMART financial goals - you need to change the way you look at financial goals vs a financial vision.
Smart financial goals feel exciting AND doable AND they work you toward something bigger than you, something you CAN’T and probably SHOULDN’T focus too much on. Setting big goals only works if you also know how to set realistic goals alongside them. That really means setting MILESTONES.
“Realistic goals” doesn’t mean “think small”. It means START small so that you’re no longer asking, “are my goals too big?” You’re only asking, “what’s my next step?”
