Eine große Kiste mit alter Hardware aus den frühen 1990ern. Da ist alles dabei, was früher angesagt war und in Elektronikmärkten verkauft wurde. PC-Mainboards mit 8088er Prozessor von Tandon, Intel 386er Prozessor und Sockel 3 Mainboards für 486er Prozessoren von Intel oder AMD mit Vesa Local Bus (VLB).

Aber auch damals war nicht alles Gold was glänzt. So groß der Sprung von 386er zum 486er-Prozessor auch war, so kompliziert wurden auch die Mainboards. Dutzende Jumper (Steckbrücken) zum Einstellen der Prozessorspannung (3V bis 5V), der Frequenz, des Takts, des CPU-Typs usw. mussten per Hand vorgenommen werden.

Dazu kommen bei 486er Mainboards noch oft Probleme mit dem RAM. Nicht jedes DIMM oder PS/2-Modul wurde erkannt und funktionierte auf jedem Mainboard. Da musste das RAM-Modul im nächsten Computerladen wieder zum Tagespreis umgetauscht werden. Auch die alten Tonnenakkus, meistens von Varta, hatten nur eine Lebensdauer von 10 Jahren und sind dann oft ausgelaufen.
