Carnivorous Plant Eats Frog Alive Video

Frog miraculously escapes deadly carnivorous meat-eating plant. #carnivorous #carnivorousplants #pitcherplants #carnivorousplant #sarracenia
I found these pitcher plants during a canoeing trip in Muskoka,Ontario. I started looking inside hoping to find dissolved insects but instead found a little frog. I have no idea how it got there, however, I think it could have tried to hide inside of the plant for shelter. The frog didn't try to escape or run away so I assumed that he was incapable of doing so. I decided to help him out. It was probably already injured and incapacitated by the digestive enzymes or symbiotic bacteria toxins located inside the plant. Small salamanders, frogs and insects can get trapped in this attractive plant for many different reasons. Sarracenia purpurea is a true carnivorous plant. They usually grow in poor acidic bog soil and use their roots to attach themselves to the ground. This plant gets all of their needed nutrients - nitrogen, phosphorus and micro elements - from their prey that drowns inside or gets trapped in the rain water collected by the plant's vertical stalks.
Young plants have digestive glands inside and these glands produce enzymes. Older plants rely on the assistance of symbiotic bacteria or protozoa which lives inside of water. Vertical tubes of the pitcher plant are covered by the hood and this prevents the plant from collecting too much water inside. If there is too much water, this can dissolve digestive enzymes and change the concentration. It also has a thick lining of hard downward pointing hairs so it makes escaping much harder for its prey. This carnivorous plant produces a beautiful flower, which is the provincial flower of Newfoundland and Labrador.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
