Don't they always say that walking through green spaces will always make the mood better and give the body and soul some refreshments, which in turn will help with the whole health of the person? Okay, that's some kind of trying to follow this rule; we are visiting different parks across Ireland and Northern Ireland such as reaching Carnfunnock Country Park in County Antrim.
Carnfunnock Country Park is located between Drains Bay and Ballygally, near Larne in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. What might be making this park different - and actually one of the reasons why we were so attracted to the idea of visiting it - is the walk garden with its unique sundials and wooden sculptures with a maritime themed outdoor adventure playground, golf driving range and academy, way-marked walks, orienteering course, geocaching, wildlife garden, as well as some picnic sites which are open to the public all year long, and that of course comes in addition to the cafe that people could enjoy getting something to drink at in the middle of their walk.
There is actually a history behind this park and we have to mention that there are different activities and interesting things to be done that could suit all the members of the family, young and old, and which differ according to the time of the year.
At the beginning of the journey we were greeted by the sheep in the place where we parked the car and then we started the journey and went through a walk in the park - the kids where playing around and running all the day and they were even playing colors with their mother in the middle of the journey.
In addition to walking through the park, there is even a playground for the kids where they could enjoy playing around and there are also some machines found for those who want to do some sports and exercises out in the air and not while being in the gym or a closed area in general - the kids tried to do some exercises on them :-)
There are different trails that one could choose from when it comes to walking through this park, one mission we gave to the kids as well, to choose one which we ended up following - I believe that the best thing about those different parks in Ireland and Northern Ireland is the different trails that are usually offered for the public and which sometimes tell the visitor which one is longer and which one will take less time in order to be completed, so one could choose wisely 🙂
We have been to different other places in county Antrim, Northern Ireland, before and not just the Carnfunnock Country Park, but we have also visited the Valley Park in Newtownabbey (

Visiting different parks across the country is now a new hobby which am following its path - I love the idea of choosing places related to nature with lots of green spaces and sometimes even water and walk there exploring the different paths it has to offer me - and I believe the kids are enjoying the same thing since they get the chance to play around as well.
