Dark and Stormy Cocktail is the Unofficial National Drink of Bermuda and the sailing community. We get to make and taste it at The Spaniard Belfast. It is a mix of Dark Rum, Fresh Lime and Ginger beer - it tastes lovely! 😃 🍸🍸🍸
History has it that the Dark and Stormy Cocktail was created by an ex sailor called Gosling who had settled on Bermuda and started to make Dark Rum. At some point Ginger Beer was mixed with it - giving us the drink we know today! Ginger beer was a tonic that sailors took to battle sea sickness.
The story of this drink started with mainly adding the dark rum with the ginger beer but sometimes and in some places, squeezing half a lemon is also considered an option - just like the way The Spaniard Pub in Belfast tends to serve it.

The Spaniard Pub in Belfast is one of those places which we recommend and which is even located in Central Cathedral Quarter which is a developing area of the city where tourists could actually check several places before or after having their drink at The Spaniard.

St. Anne's Cathedral is also known as Belfast Cathedral and it is a Church of Ireland Cathedral that is one of the destinations that lots of tourists tend to visit whenever they come to Belfast. In the same area, there is also The Mac which is a Metropolitan Arts Centre and one of Europe's leading art centres that houses three art galleries, two theaters, a bar and a restaurant and a family room.
Back in the old days, the Cathedral Quarter was the center of Belfast's trade and warehousing district, which sprung up directly from the prosperous linen and ship building industries. The best thing about this place, the quarter, is that it still retains some of the oldest buildings which one could come across, making the whole area more appealing for tourists and visitors who are coming to Ireland with hope to spot those old and historical buildings and get the chance to check the best out of this country (
