Causeway Coast Road Trip, Northern Ireland - Game of Thrones Video

Home
Ever wondered where Game of Thrones is filmed? I decided to go on a Causeway Coast/North Coast road trip to check out some of these locations - a must for anyone who wants to visit Northern Ireland or interested in Ireland Tourism.

Places include Ballintoy Harbour - The Fullerton Arms (home to one of the ten GOT doors), The Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (although I got the name wrong you think I would have been better at this since I have lived in Northern Ireland for over 20 years!!)

Some of the famous movies that have been filmed out there were filmed in Ireland and Northern Ireland, and as much as we believe that these are really good destinations which we should visit at some point - even those Irish people - we also feel proud of the amount of places and buildings which our country carries.

This trip was mainly focused on the locations in the Game of Thrones movie - since lots of the scenes were taken in Northern Ireland. The first stop of this trip was Limavady; Limavady is a market town in County Londonderry, it lies within Causeway Coast and Glen Borough - which is the reason why we passed by it on our way to explore the Causeway Coast and check those different locations of the Game of Thrones movie series.

After taking different shots of Limavady from the drone camera, I moved on to complete my trip and I then stopped at the Ballintoy Harbour (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Aa4aOOU90c). The Ballintoy Harbour was the second stop in my trip and this is a small fishing harbour at the end of a very small and narrow steep road down Knocksaughey hill which passes by the entrance to Larrybane and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Apart from being a long trip to visit different places related to the locations of Game of Thrones movies, I also fell in love with the sound of waves hitting the shore - I could spend the rest of my life there without even getting a bit bored.

During the trip I came across one interesting thing which I have been part of the previous year which is the Causeway Coast Half Marathon - a bit hard on those rocks but still interesting when you reach the end and start calculating what you have already done and been through.

Keeping up with this trip comes the third destination which was the Fullerton Arms - Ballintoy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_nIR31uvak). The Fullerton Arms in Ballintoy is a hotel, restaurant and bar that is located in the heart of Causeway Coastal Route in Northern Ireland and which also hosts some of the places where Game of Thrones was filmed at, such as hosting the fantastic door of throne no. 6 of 10, carved from trees of Dark Hedges (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmAKfkn11Qc), as well as having a private dining room set in the world of Game of Thrones, complete with the banners and its own replica iron throne.

If you think that my trip is now over then you are wrong because there are still some other stops which I have passed by to make sure that I have checked all the items off my list. The next stop to check was the Magheramorne Quarry, which is a hamlet in County Antrim, 5 miles away from Larne, on the shores of Larne Lough. Of course what you might be exposed to through the movie will be a little bit different than the real scenes with all the decorations added to the scene, but still, we have to say that you will end up visiting really good places in Northern Ireland at the end which you will never regret.

Coming closer to the end of my journey, I then came to Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (not that close but I still manage to point at it out there in the video =)). There is history behind this rope bridge which was erected back in 1755 by salmon fishermen and which is about 100 ft above sea level. This rope bridge connects the mainland to a tiny island of Carrickarede which carries one house only - a fishermen cottage. Nowadays, this bridge has become a touristic attraction where lots of people come to visit and check it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RXOUknZ5N4).

The last place to head out for to complete this trip was the Giants Causeway and which I was trying to reach before night (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBt0eCAHfnU). Giants Causeway was a place which I visited before and which is different because of the reason behind its appearance. Giants Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns which resulted from an ancient volcanic eruption and which is located in County Antrim about three miles northeast of the town of Bushmills (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2SQMqLhsgs).

What to you think of this stuffed trip that I have gone through? Share your opinions with me and tell me more about your experience with visiting any of these destinations and locations or else the plans that you still carry ahead of you in order to visit any of them.

Are you now excited about checking more of those locations in any of the Game of Thrones movies which you could find here in Northern Ireland?

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
